The Imperial Society for the Reproduction of Game and Game Animals and Proper Hunting was created in 1872 in Moscow on the initiative and under the leadership of Vasily Sheremetev.
In Russia, historically so that, along with state control and supervision of compliance with faunal legislation, non-state control was provided for. Indications on hunting guards of private owners of fields, forests and hunting societies, public hunting guards were contained in the Law of February 3, 1892 “On Hunting”2 and in earlier legislative acts. Members of the Imperial Society for the Reproduction of Game and Game Animals and Proper Hunting annually identified up to five thousand cases of violation of hunting rules. The importance of society as a guardian of hunting wealth is undeniable.
Nikolai Vasilyevich Turkin (1861-1933) - lawyer, hunter, publisher of the magazine “Nature and Hunting”, typographer-inventor. He was the author of “Notes on the draft “Rules on Hunting”” (M., 1889), which regulated hunting, and he also authored the critical study “Laws on Hunting” (1889) and their publication.
N.V. Turkin shows how the hunting legislation of the Russian Empire was formed, adopted in 1892 and amended in 1913. This legislation formulated hunting rules, issues of land lease, and fixed environmental standards.
