Lifetime edition. Cover by I. Bilibin. The author of the proposed book is Korsak (real name Zavadsky) V.V. (1884-1944), prose writer, poet, memoirist of the Russian diaspora. A native of the city of Kalach-on-Don. Graduated from the Faculty of Law of Warsaw (Don) University in Rostov-on-Don. Participant of the First World War and the White Movement. In 1920 he emigrated from Odessa to Egypt. Since 1922 he lived in Paris. Member of the Parisian Union of Russian Writers and Journalists. Died in Paris. He was buried in the Russian cemetery in Saint-Genevieve des Bois near Paris. V. V. Korsak began with a number of memoir books published between 1927 and 1931, in which he truthfully and well described his participation in the First World War, captivity by the Germans, the Civil War and the exodus from Russia. These books are valuable as a human document and as a monument to the era. Between 1929 and 1939 Korsak published several semi-biographical novels (memoir prose), of which the proposed book belongs. An autobiographical novel about childhood, adolescence, interesting material about Siberia, where the author spent his childhood and adolescence. Rarity.
