- Officer's legacy.

Memories of a direct participant in the described events. `This Caucasian grenadier, modest captain, Knight of St. George certainly has a rather big literary talent, great powers of observation, the ability to firmly and clearly convey the feelings and thoughts of his heroes, give mood and captivate the reader. And the main thing that K. Popov has is the vast experience of a combat infantry officer who went through the Great and Civil Wars and knows the price of life and death (from a review of the era). The author of the proposed book is Popov K.S., captain of the Russian army. He graduated from the Tiflis Military School, from which he entered the 13th L.-Grenadier Erivan E.V. Regiment. Member of the First World War, fought in Prussia, near Warsaw, on the Bzura and in Gallicia. He was awarded the Order of St. George and the St. George weapon. Then he was seriously wounded (lost his left hand). After the cure, despite his disability, he returned to the regiment - to the front near Smorgon. In July 1917 he commanded a cadet shock battalion formed on the orders of General L. Kornilov. In 1918 he was enlisted in the Volunteer Army in Novorossiysk. He commanded a company and a battalion of the Caucasian Grenadier Division. Participated in all the battles of the Caucasian army until October 1919, when he was seriously wounded in the leg. After recovery, he returned to the regiment. He miraculously escaped in the battle near Belaya Glina in the winter of 1920, where the remnants of the regiment were surrounded by red cavalry and died. March 8, 1920 was evacuated from Novorossiysk to the island of Cyprus. In 1921 he moved to Belgrade, and then moved to France. From February 1931 - secretary of the editorial office of the monthly newspaper `Russian invalid`, founded by General Baratov. For health reasons, he was forced to leave the editorial office and settled in Hossegor, in the department of Landes, where he was engaged in gardening and horticulture on a farm. Throughout his life in exile, he remained an employee of the Foreign Union of Russian Military Invalids and the Association of the 13th Erivan Life Grenadier Regiment. He died on March 24, 1962 in the House of Russian Military Disabled Persons in Montmorency near Paris. Buried at the local cemetery. The literary gifted Captain K. S. Popov is the author of numerous articles and several books that have left a noticeable mark on the military-historical literature of the emigration. The most valuable materials-primary sources on Russian military history. Russian press in Paris. For Slavists, historians, bibliographers, collectors. Forgotten names, unexplored materials. Rare.
