Georgy Dmitrievich Grebenshchikov (1882-1964) - prose writer, playwright, researcher of Siberia. He did not accept the October events and spent the years of the civil war in Crimea. In 1920 he emigrated. He first lived in France, in Paris he was closely acquainted with N. Roerich, F. Chaliapin, K. Balmont. In 1924 he emigrated to the USA, where he organized the Russian settlement of Churaevka ("Siberian Monastery in America") and the publishing house "Alatas" in the town of Southbury (Connecticut). The publishing house published Grebenshchikov himself and people close to him, including N.K. Roerich, who was the author of the publishing house's emblem.
