The book was published by the Commission on the Establishment of Public Schools and was first published in 1787. The author, Mikhail Evseevich Golovin (1759-1790), Russian physicist and mathematician, was Mikhail Lomonosov’s nephew on his mother’s side. He was one of the first methodologists and left a noticeable mark on the history of the development of mathematical education in Russia as the author of textbooks on arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry and mechanics.
