First edition of the essay.
The author is a writer and lawyer who emigrated from Russia, Alexander Adolfovich Shik (1887-1968). In 1936, in the Berlin publishing house Parabola, he published his first essay on the great Russian poet - The Married Pushkin. And in 1938, the following essay on Pushkin's theme appeared in Paris - "Odessa Pushkin". Thus, the writer recreated the life of a genius in reverse chronological order, moving from the fateful days of 1837 to the relatively serene youth of Pushkin. The essays were written with great tact, using excerpts from letters and notes of Pushkin himself and people close to him. In 1949 A.A. Shik was a member of the Pushkin Committee for organizing celebrations related to the 150th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin.
