Krylov in 3 volumes under the general editorship of D. Bedny (Goslitizdat, M. 1945-1946).

Ivan Andreevich Krylov (1768-1844) - famous Russian fabulist, playwright, journalist. He was the best of Russian fabulists and won the hearts of readers from all social groups of the Russian population. In 1811, for his outstanding literary merits, he was elected a member of the Russian Academy, and in 1823 he received a gold medal. In terms of the power of expression and the beauty of form, Krylov’s fables, according to critics of the 19th century, were the height of perfection. However, Krylov turned to the fable genre quite late; before that, he wrote comedies and satirical stories that had enormous success. To achieve greater expressiveness, he expelled book expressions and “poetic liberties” from his works and introduced instead more precise, folk expressions. In his mastery of storytelling and in his portrayal of characters, Krylov is a true artist, endowed with subtle humor.

The first volume includes nine books of fables, as well as fables not included in the nine books, unfinished fables, comic fables, poems and plays : `Tucker`, `Pie`, `Fashion shop` and `Lesson for daughters`.

The second volume includes stories and satires: `Mail of Spirits`, `Nights`, `Discussions about Friendship`, `Eulogy in memory of my grandfather`, `Kaib` and others, letters about the theater and reviews : I WOULD. Knyazhnin, P.A. Soimonov.
