Yuri Mikhailovich Lotman (February 28, 1922, Petrograd - October 28, 1993, Tartu) is one of the greatest humanities scholars of the 20th century, philologist, culturologist, semiotician, whose works have been translated into all major European languages. His creative heritage includes about eight hundred scientific and popular science articles and books. The books “Conversations about Russian Culture”, “Roman A.S. Pushkin "Eugene Onegin": Commentary", "The Structure of the Artistic Text", "Semiotics of Cinema and Problems of Cinema Aesthetics".
Yuri Lotman - Doctor of Philology (1962), Professor (1963). Corresponding Member of the British Academy of Sciences (1977), Member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences (1987), Academician of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (1989) and Member of the Estonian Academy of Sciences.
One of the most important achievements of Lotman. was the development of the science of semiotics, to which he devoted several fundamental works. His works ("The Structure of the Artistic Text", "The Semiotics of Cinema and the Problems of Film Aesthetics", "Culture and the Explosion") made a significant contribution to the understanding of culture and the processes taking place in it and are recognized as classics.
The condition of the book is solidly good. The title page has library stamps and a trace of a peeled-off pocket on the flyleaf.
