Nikolai Berdyaev, an outstanding Russian philosopher, acted as an ideologist of personalism. He believed in the exclusivity of each individual and its strength. The philosopher believed that the inner life of each individual person is alienated from the outside world. He saw the deep conflict in which contemporary man was with the outside world and society, which sought to suppress his inner spiritual life. “Self-Knowledge” is one of Berdyaev’s last works, a kind of summation of his philosophical heritage. The eternal questions that Berdyaev pondered - love, loneliness, freedom, rebellion, the meaning of life and its search - are more relevant today than ever, the thinker’s ideas are original and modern, his style is the greatest phenomenon of the Russian language.
