Archimandrite Cleopas (Ilie) is a famous Romanian elder. Throughout the Orthodox world he is revered as a great prayer book, mentor and spiritual writer. Many people, monks and laymen, turned to him in sorrows and difficult situations and received gracious help. The book “The Value of the Soul” represents conversations between Elder Cleopas and the brethren and pilgrims of the Sikhastria monastery, recorded on tape and subsequently published by the monastery. The topics of the conversations concern the most important aspects of Christian life - prayer, repentance, communion. The compiler of the book is the disciple and spiritual friend of the elder, Archimandrite Ioannikiy (Belan).
