Kira Alekseevna Zvorykina was not a darling of chess fortune: she knew not only good luck, but also disappointments. Her success was determined by talent, diligence and character - fighting, strong, courageous. These qualities of young Kira were discerned by the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Pyotr Arsenyevich Romanovsky, who included her in the group of his students. K. A. Zvorykina is the winner of the I and II World Women's Chess Olympiads: at the first she showed the best result among all the participants, at the second she lost only half a point. She was awarded the honorary title of International Grandmaster and Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.
