The departed author signed his materials when they appeared in periodicals, but could not sign the last page without him of the resulting manuscript. Of course, the collection is dedicated to chess and chess players, it is one-volume, but you can’t create wholeness with this alone. It would seem that the essays and correspondence of S. Flor “Through the prism of half a century” cannot be called a “book” in any way. Well, if only simply because he didn’t write such a book: articles, sketches, reports on famous tournaments and matches, essays on outstanding chess players scattered around various newspapers and thin magazines were collected after his death by the grandmaster’s widow.
