The book tells about the life and work of the outstanding Russian surgeon, teacher and public figure of the XIX century Nikolai Ivanovich Pirogov. Pirogov entered Russian and world science not only as a pioneer and creator of entire sections of Russian medicine, but also as a doctor - an ascetic, a patriot of the Russian Fatherland and land. The author, a doctor by profession, uses rare archival materials and documents in the book.

The book is in good condition, there are minor wear and dirt on the binding.
