Disappeared at the age of 39, Boris Vian managed to be an engineer, inventor, musician, critic, poet, novelist, playwright, screenwriter, translator, journalist, reader and performer of his own songs... Time was allotted for all a matter of seconds. The novel "Heartcutter" (1953) was conceived by Vian back in 1947, it belongs to the main part of the writer's creative heritage. Today, his work organically enters the general context of the 20th century. Influence is contested, legacies are being studied, books are being republished and translated. The empty space between Jacques Prevert and Alain Robbe-Grillet is being filled. Vian is recognized as a classic of intellectual kitsch, a prominent representative of the post-war French avant-garde.
