The appearance of this work is surprising: having accidentally found themselves roommates in the same Soviet health resort, the symbolist poet V.I. Ivanov and literary critic M.O. Gershenzon, instead of talking, started exchanging written messages, and the resulting “Correspondence” was published in Petrograd in 1921 as a separate book.

Theologian G. Florovsky, responding from Prague, called the “Correspondence” a human document of extreme importance - because the authors, as if soaring above the then devastated way of life, are talking about the Russian idea and conciliarity, about the heavy burden of centuries-old culture and saving faith in Christ... The writer E. Lundberg wrote in Berlin: “Correspondence from Two Corners” is a wonderful, exciting, joyful and painfully piercing document. This is a book that foreigners should also know."

The "Correspondence" was published in Germany, translated into French, then into Italian...

Thanks to the fact that the authors were able to preserve moment of his abstract interests and mental freedom, “The Correspondence of Their Two Corners” became a work for all times.
