The first volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov (1941-1990), a famous prose writer who lived in Leningrad until 1978, and since 1979 in New York, includes his early prose, including stories from the collection ` Demarche of Enthusiasts and Two Sentimental Stories (The Donkey Should Be Thin, Another Life). The volume concludes with stories from emigrant life and the book `Compromise` - about journalistic everyday life.

The second volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov is composed of four books: `Zone` (`Notes of a Warden') - a string of episodes from camp life in the Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, `Reserve' - a story about the stay of a poor writer in the Pushkin Reserve, `Ours' - stories from the history of the Dovlatov family, `March of the Lonely' - a collection of articles about emigration from the weekly `New American` (New York), of which Dovlatov was editor-in-chief in 1980-1982.

The third volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov includes: the book `Craft` (part one - `The Invisible Book`, part two - `The Invisible Newspaper`) - the story of two attempts to publish a book in their homeland and create an emigrant newspaper in the USA, the story ` Foreigner - the story of a Russian woman in New York, the collection "Suitcase" - stories from Leningrad life, "Refrigerator" - an unfinished book of stories, like "Suitcase", "From stories about the past summer" - three stories about the writer's life in America, written in the summer of 1988

The fourth volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov includes: the story `Branch` (`Notes of the Presenter`) - the story of a writer who became an employee of Western radio, `Notebooks (`Solo on Underwood` and `Solo on IBM`) - funny micronovels from the lives of characters known to Dovlatov, `On literary topics` - reviews, articles about literature written in exile, `Speeches. Interview` - lectures given in the USA, interviews from the American magazine `Word` and from `Ogonyok`.
