The first volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov (1941-1990), a famous prose writer who lived in Leningrad until 1978, and since 1979 in New York, includes his early prose, including stories from the collection ` Demarche of Enthusiasts and Two Sentimental Stories (The Donkey Should Be Thin, Another Life). The volume concludes with stories from emigrant life and the book `Compromise` - about journalistic everyday life.
The second volume of the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov is composed of four books: `Zone` (`Notes of a Warden') - a string of episodes from camp life in the Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, `Reserve' - a story about the stay of a poor writer in the Pushkin Reserve, `Ours' - stories from the history of the Dovlatov family, `March of the Lonely' - a collection of articles about emigration from the weekly `New American` (New York), of which Dovlatov was editor-in-chief in 1980-1982.
