The first volume of “The Will to Power” is a kind of result of the philosophical “rebellion” of Friedrich Nietzsche. Despite all the doubts about the authenticity of some fragments of the book, as well as the appropriateness of its layout and general structure, “The Will to Power” is a cultural and historical fact that played a significant role in the world cataclysms of the 20th century. The influence of the most scandalous and controversial book by Fr. Nietzsche can be traced in the works of such world-famous philosophers as Shestov, Freud, Heidegger, Camus, Sartre, etc.

The second volume of selected works by Fr. Nietzsche includes unpublished works for almost 100 years. After many years of studying ancient culture, Nietzsche, in search of a “strong personality,” turned to modernity, which resulted in the writing of two essays: on Arthur Schopenhauer and Richard Wagner. But passion will soon give way to disappointment - the ideal, acquiring real features, ceases to be an ideal. In "Mixed Opinions and Sayings" and in "The Wanderer and His Shadow" a lonely ascent to heights of spirit begins, inaccessible to people under the influence of norms and traditions. The struggle begins with thousand-year-old values, the paradox of which lies in the fact that, having created modern man, they also lead him to death.

Philosophy in a tragic era - The publication introduces the reader to a little-known and most interesting period of the German thinker’s work. At the age of 24, having become a professor of philology at Bayreuth, Nietzsche in a short period of time created many works, conceptual in concept and extraordinary in approach, in which the basic concepts of his future philosophical works ("will to power", "superman", "eternal return") appear in pristine purity, unclouded by disease and the forced “strategy of destruction.” Without familiarity with the “early” Nietzsche, the novelty of “The Birth of Tragedy,” the stylistics of “Zarathustra,” and the maximalism of “The Will to Power” are incomprehensible. In the young philologist professor, the reader will discover a “revolutionary of the spirit”, fascinated by ancient Greece and its integral natures, who at the cost of his life risked dreaming of a “dancing star” among little people.
