The Russian Renaissance magazine was founded with the blessing of ROCOR by Archpriest Alexander and Kallista Ivanovna Kiselev and N.F., I.E., and A.N. Fedorov in 1978. Father Alexander Kiselev was a famous figure in the Russian Diaspora.

The creators of the magazine "Russian Renaissance" saw one of their main tasks in the opportunity to talk about lofty things in a language accessible to a wide reader.

The magazine raised topical and burning topics of the spiritual revival of Russia in the difficult Soviet period, which are still relevant today.

At first, people who did not have their own experience were engaged in the magazine. The editor-in-chief from 1978 to 1979 was Prince. S.S. Obolensky and the magazine was published in France. From 1980 to 1981, G.A. Khomyakov became the editor-in-chief, the journal is printed in the USA. The journal acquires a new stage of formation with the arrival of the editor-in-chief M.A.K.-Kholodnaya and the editorial board in the person of K.I. Kiseleva, O.P. Ilyinsky, Z.F. Trifunovich (secretary of the editorial board), Yu.V. Izmestieva and N.N. Ozerova.

Since 1994, the magazine has been printed in Russia with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II. Since 2001, the magazine has been published as an almanac.
