Hippocrates (c. 460 - c. 370 BC) - ancient Greek physician and philosopher, “father of medicine.” His works reflect ideas about the integrity of the organism; concepts about anamnesis; teachings about etiology, prognosis, temperaments, etc.

This edition continues the tradition of the “selected Hippocrates”, quite widespread within the European cultural circle since the 16th century, and includes the most interesting works for a wide range of readers from the collection of medical treatises known as the “Hippocratic Corpus”. The book focuses on the ethics of Hippocrates, which laid the foundations of bioethics in modern times. Works on general medicine, also included in the collection, reveal the essence of the theory of humoral pathology, which dominated European medicine until the first half of the 19th century.
