Страх и желание (L)

The novel "Fear and Desire" takes the reader to the not very distant past, to the middle of the 40s of the last century (in his novels, he also referred to much older times). But it was then, after the war, that an important historical milestone began in the life of Estonians as part of the USSR. And there was still a glimmer of hope and faith that the Americans and the British would return their independence. And forest brothers with weapons tried to confirm these expectations by killing Soviet soldiers and Estonian activists. There was no unequivocal attitude to those events then, and there is not now in Estonian society.
