Ivan Sergeevich Shmelev (1873-1950) became famous even before 1917 for his works (the story “The Man from the Restaurant” was especially famous). After several years of wandering and a terrible life in Crimea after the Volunteer Army left there, having lost his son during the Red Terror, he ended up in Paris, where he wrote magnificent works “Sun of the Dead”, “Pilgrim”, “Summer of the Lord”, stories and essays, forever inscribed his name in the history of Russian literature.
