August Miklashevskaya, a talented actress of the beginning of the century, is now remembered only as one of Sergei Yesenin’s muses. The lines “Well, your name rings like August coolness” are dedicated specifically to her. Meanwhile, this amazing woman lived a very difficult life, full of stunning ups and excruciatingly painful downs. The very title of the book, “Love and Cunning. A Theatrical Detective,” speaks for itself - there is pain, and fear, and unexpected twists of fate, and tears, and the love of a real Woman. She is the star of the Chamber Theater, and other outstanding theater figures - Tairov, Koonen, Blumenthal-Tamarin, as well as poets - Yesenin and Mariengof, State Security General Sudoplatov and many others - in the new book of the famous writer Arkady Vaksberg.

(Dietmar Gerhard Stüdemann)
