The memoirs of A. B. Mariengof, V. G. Shershenevich and I. V. Gruzinov tell about the era of the 1910s - 1920s. , when new literary movements and schools were born in polemical battles, in particular imagism, of which the authors were representatives. Among other things, “My Age, My Friends and Girlfriends” and “A Novel Without Lies” by Mariengof, “The Magnificent Eyewitness” by Shershenevich and “Mayakovsky and Literary Moscow” by Gruzinov are valuable for their vivid portraits of V. Bryusov, S. Yesenin, V. Khlebnikov, Vs. Meyerhold, V. Mayakovsky and others.

Manuscripts are published in full for the first time, according to the author's editions, taking into account corrections reflecting the last will of the author. The “Appendix” contains four letters from Yesenin, one of which was previously unknown, the other two were published in the Collected Works of the poet in a distorted form, and the fourth was published only abroad.

The book is illustrated with rare photographs reproduced for the first time from the collections of TsGALI.
