The bright and multifaceted personality of Anna Akhmatova appears from the pages of the memoirs of A.G. Naiman, who for a number of years had the opportunity to be Anna Andreevna’s literary secretary, work with her on translations of foreign poetry, and conduct conversations about life, literature, and politics. More than 20 letters from Akhmatova are published here for the first time, and many of her opinions are presented, helping to more accurately understand the poet’s work. Naturally, much in the book bears a pronounced personal, subjective imprint, which is reflected in the assessment of certain people and events. The materials published in the “Appendix”, being documents of the era, reflect different, sometimes sharply polar, views on the work of A. Akhmatova .

Дитмар Штюдеманн (Вельс/Австрия 1941-2022, Берлин) с 1972 г. работал в Министерстве иностранных дел, занимая должности в Москве, Афинах, Вене, Праге и Киеве. Большую часть своей профессиональной карьеры он провел в Москве, где стал свидетелем не только начала улучшения отношений между Востоком и Западом, но и распада Советского Союза. Во время его работы послом в Украине в 2004 году произошла "оранжевая революция".
Этот опыт сформировал его личность и интересы, которые часто выходили за рамки его обязанностей в качестве дипломата. Он увлекался литературой и культурой, интересовался историей и археологией, проявлял особый интерес к изобразительному искусству, что нашло отражение в его частной художественной коллекции.
