On July 5, 1943, Wehrmacht troops went on the offensive according to the Citadel plan against the Central and Voronezh fronts. The massive-scale Battle of Kursk began, which became Germany's last attempt to wrest the strategic initiative from the Soviet Union. However, even today, 75 years after its start, researchers have not fully resolved many key problems of its history, for example: how was the Kursk Bulge formed, could Germany have won the battle, what contribution did Soviet intelligence make to uncovering the plans of the German command? The authors of the book provide answers to these and a number of other questions, based on recently declassified documents of the Soviet troops and captured sources from domestic and foreign archives.
