The novel "St. John's Wort" is one of the pentalogy books of the famous American writer Fenimore Cooper. The main theme of all five novels was the struggle of the Indians against the American colonialists, the story of the death of the tribal way of life of the once numerous people. The action of the novel takes place in the 40s of the XVIII century. It was at this time that the friendship of Deerslayer (such is one of the nicknames of the young hero Natty Bumpo) is struck up with the brave Mohican Chingachgook.
