Любовь и Ненависть

For many decades, the theme of the struggle of the Spanish Republic against the fascist conspirators continues to live in Soviet literature. The novel of the prominent Latvian prose writer Jean Griva, a former fighter of the international brigades in Spain, is also devoted to this topic. The protagonist of the novel, a young Latvian Anatol Skulte, goes through a difficult spiritual path from a person of unclear, inconsistent convictions to an internationalist and a fighter for communist ideals. A number of dramatic lines can be traced in the novel, recreating one of the brightest pages of modern history and the struggle against the forces of imperialism from different angles.
