A book about the life and travels of three famous German explorers of the Near and Middle East: Carsten Niebuhr, Ulrich Seetzen and Johann Burckhardt (second half of the 18th - early 19th centuries). The route of all three is practically the same: Syria, Palestine, Mesopotamia, Iran, Yemen, Inner Arabia, Egypt. However, the fates are different: only Pibur manages to live to a ripe old age, while Seetzen and Burckhardt die during their wanderings. Each of them experienced many adventures on their way that the heroes of adventure novels could envy.
