Andreev Gennady Andreevich (real name - Khomyakov, 1906-1984) - writer, journalist. He also wrote under the pseudonym N. Otradin. At the age of 15, he was expelled from school on charges of "counter-revolutionary activities." After graduating from high school (1926), he began working in the provincial newspaper, in which he published several stories. In 1927 he was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in the camps. He served his term in different places, including Solovki. In 1935 he was released with a ban on the right to reside in 41 cities of the USSR. In 1941, G. Andreev was drafted into the army. In 1942 he was taken prisoner in the Crimea. I was in a POW camp in Norway. After his release to the USSR, he refused to return; he avoided forced repatriation. He joined the NTS (National Labor Union), was a member of the Council of the NTS and edited the magazine "Posev". In 1946, he resumed his literary activity, signed his works and articles with the pseudonym G. Andreev. Lived and worked in Munich. In 1958, in Munich, he took part in the creation of the "Association of Foreign Writers", which published about 20 books, published the almanac "Bridges", of which he was editor-in-chief from 1958 to 1970. After moving to the USA, he settled in New York. Collaborated in the newspaper "New Russian Word" (New York), on the pages of which he published weekly articles on socio-political and topical topics. Author of autobiographical stories "Difficult Roads" and "Solovki Islands". In 1975 he became co-editor of the New Journal, in 1980-1981. edited the Russian Renaissance magazine (New York-Paris-Moscow). After retiring, he settled on the bay near New York. G. Andreev died in 1984 in the USA. Buried near Lakewood, New Jersey.

Основано в 1945 году в лагере для перемещённых лиц Мёнхенгоф в американской зоне оккупации Германии. В 1947 году издательство переезжает в Лимбург-на-Лане, а в январе — во Франкфурт-на-Майне. В 1992 году открыт филиал в Москве.
