The book “Beautiful Madmen” is essentially a continuation of “Cult Names” by the same author. These are a kind of mini-ZhZL, biographical portraits of celebrities, “beautiful” and “crazy” in their daring and inspired service to creativity.

In their obsession, they innovatively expanded the boundaries of culture and ethics, sometimes - like Nietzsche and Maupassant - riskily breaking moral taboos in their own lives, and even finding themselves beyond the bounds of reason. One way or another, the life path of such cult personalities is intricate, tortuous and dramatic. Evidence of this is the fate of the heroes of this book: George Sand, Francoise Sagan, Joseph Brodsky. Federico Fellini and others.
