The book talks about the heroic defense by the soldiers of the 13th Guards Division of the city of our glory - Stalingrad in the autumn and winter of 1942-1943. The division was in the most critical direction - it defended the city center, including places that have become historical: a mill, Pavlov's house, Zabolotny's house, the Railwaymen's House, the station. The author is a participant in the Battle of Stalingrad. The exploits of the warriors that he describes were performed before his eyes. Of great interest are the pages of the book, where L.P. Koren talks about party political work during the battles, about how the communists inspired soldiers by personal example, promoted the exploits of heroes and combat experience.
