This collection presents, in full or in extracts, the most significant works of Russian writers and thinkers of the 16th-20th centuries, dedicated to Russian icons and religious painting (Joseph Volotsky, Simon Ushakov, Vasily Rozanov , Evgeny Trubetskoy, Pavel Florensky and others). Some of them are published for the first time (the work of Maxim the Greek “On Holy Icons”, etc.). They allow us to trace the interaction of Russian philosophical and aesthetic thought over five centuries. The book is intended for philosophers, art historians, religious scholars and anyone interested in the problems of Russian icons.
