Кто виноват?

In the novel "Who is to blame?" given pictures of Russian life in the 40s. XIX century. Showing the life drama of his heroes - the bitter orphanhood of Lyubonka in his father's house, the unsuitability for life of the dreamer-loser Krucifersky, the forced idleness of Beltov, the writer denounces the autocratic serf system, protests against the oppression and enslavement of the human person. Drawing the image of the young nobleman Beltov, A.I. Herzen reveals the social drama of "superfluous people" who could not find application for their rich mental strength and mind. The life of bureaucrats and landlords is vividly depicted in the novel, sharply satirical images are created (General Negro, his wife Glafira Lvovna, etc.).
