This volume is part of the seven-volume edition of “The History of Russian Literature”, published by the French publishing house “Fai-Yar” and which has no analogues among publications devoted to Russian literature in terms of richness of material and manner his submission. It includes works by Slavists now living in 15 countries of the world, many of whom, for one reason or another, at one time emigrated from the USSR. The book, in addition to literary ones, also reflects the processes that took place in philosophy, fine arts, music and which, along with literary ones, constituted the general cultural process in Russia at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.

The book uses photographs from the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art.
