Eidelman Nathan Yakovlevich (1930 - 1989), historian and writer. In 1952 he graduated from the Faculty of History of Moscow State University. He began publishing in 1960, showing a special interest in the social and cultural movements of Russia in the 18th–19th centuries. Author of the books: “Herzen's Bell” (1963), “Secret Correspondents of the Polar Star” (1966), “Lunin” (1970), “Herzen against the Autocracy” (1973), “Pushkin and the Decembrists” (1979), “Your Nineteenth Century” (1980), “Big Jeannot” and “Edge of Centuries” (both 1982), “Pushkin. History and modernity in the artistic consciousness of the poet" (1984), etc., combining documentary, depth and originality of historical and philosophical understanding of facts with literary entertainment, psychological brightness and special interest in moral issues. In particular, the realities of Moscow life of the past came to life in them. Eidelman's books immediately became a noticeable phenomenon in the cultural life of the capital of the 60-80s, the subject of numerous discussions, including with the participation of the author himself.
