"Guide to Pushkin" is a publication unique in its breadth of coverage, the only Pushkin encyclopedia to date. The best Pushkinists of the first half of our century took part in the work on it: B.V. Tomashevsky, Yu.N. Tynyanov, M.A. Tsyavlovsky, S.M. Bondi, P.E. Shchegolev and others. The “Guide” contains articles devoted to all of Pushkin’s works, their characters, the poet’s friends and contemporaries, books that Pushkin read, places he visited, in short, everything that is in one way or another connected with Pushkin and can help a deeper and more accurate understanding of his work. The “Guide” has not lost its value to this day and is interesting not only as a unique Pushkin encyclopedia, but also as a monument of Russian philological science, which has no analogues in the brilliance and number of “stars” gathered around it.
