More info

The publication includes the most significant works of the famous Jewish philosopher Martin Buber (1878-1965), whose work combined the study of the foundations of the Jewish tradition, the experience of religious life and modern philosophical thinking. The core theme of his works is that special state of personality, in which a `dialogue` is possible between a person and God, between a person and a person, between a person and the world. The emotionally intense manner of writing and the unceasing effort to grasp this `genuine` dimension of human existence create in his works a high mood of sincerity. Most of the works included in this volume have been translated into Russian specifically for this publication.
The book is addressed not only to philosophers, historians, theologians, culturologists, but also to a wide range of readers interested in modern problems of philosophy.

Edited by P.S. Gurevich, S.Ya. Levit, S.V. Lezov.
Graphics by Marc Chagall are used in the book.
A reproduction from Marc Chagall's painting `The Tree of Jesse` is placed on the cover (1975).
