The book has two main characters - the famous Russian poet Nikolai Gumilyov and his biographer, writer Pavel Luknitsky. They never met, but this did not stop Luknitsky in the 1920s from enthusiastically and thoroughly collecting everything that related to Gumilyov’s life and work. When the poet’s name was banned in our country, he preserved the priceless archive at the greatest risk.
Luknitsky did not live to see the publication of his work. His widow presents us with a documentary narrative based on the materials of this huge archive, as well as the investigative documents in the Gumilyov case recently discovered and deciphered by their son.
