Vyacheslav Vyacheslavovich Sysoev (1937-2006) - artist, graphic artist. One of the brightest representatives of unofficial art. He worked in the genre of underground anti-Soviet caricature. In 1983 he was arrested and sentenced to two years in the camps for “distribution of pornography.” In 1989 he left for Germany. In the West, the drawings have been published since 1976; in 1983, the artist’s first album was published in Paris.
INTRODUCTION TO THE RUSSIAN EDITION:
"I recently leafed through a book written more than 4 years ago. I noticed with disgust that many of the things described there have now come to life. God knows, I didn’t want this! When I wrote , then talked about the fate of the artist, but now it turned out that he had partly captured the fate of the country. And although Alexander Galich said that “experience has never saved anyone from trouble,” I think that it would be useful to once again remind what our country has led to and the world is an "experiment" with the building of communism in one single country."
Vyacheslav Sysoev, November 10, 1991.
