The first volume of the textbook covers the early and developed Middle Ages (V-XV centuries)

The textbook "History of the Middle Ages" for university students covers the period from the 5th to the middle of the 17th century. In the first volume, according to the periodization adopted in Soviet historiography, the history of the early (V - middle of the 11th century) and developed (end of the 11th - 15th centuries) is described, in the second volume - the late (XVI - middle of the 17th century) Middle Ages.
The chapters of the textbook reflect the theoretical, methodological and historiographic problems of the history of the feudal socio-economic formation as a whole, the most important processes in the life of medieval society, the development of individual regions and countries of Western Europe and Byzantium. Material on the history of the southern and western Slavs, as well as the history of the countries of Asia and Africa in the Middle Ages, is not included in the textbook, since according to the curriculum of the history departments of universities, these courses are studied separately. (Ch. 19), about Northern Europe and Spain in the VIII-XI centuries. (Ch. 6), about Latin Romania (Ch. 17).
