In 1858 - 59, A. Dumas traveled around Russia. He spent three months in the Caucasus. In April 1859, three volumes of his impressions from his trip to the Caucasus were published in Paris. In 1861, an abbreviated version of "Caucasus" was published in Russian. The current edition is the most complete edition of "Caucasus" in our country. It is illustrated with reproductions of paintings by G. Gagarin, T. Gorschelt, J.-P. Moinet and other contemporary artists of A. Dumas who worked in the Caucasus; materials from photo archives were used. Literary processing of the translation from French by P. N. Roborovsky, translation of the missing parts, introductory article, afterword, notes, comments and selection of illustrations by M. I. Buyanov.
