The two works that make up the book by the famous German humanist writer Bernhard Kellermann (1879 - 1951) are separated from each other by decades, but both reflect the most pressing problems of the twentieth century. “The Tunnel” (1913), with its fantastic plot (the construction of a tunnel under the ocean that connected America with Europe), is dedicated to a topic that is still relevant today: technology and man. The author shows the interaction between the rapid development of technology and human destinies, and addresses the highly social aspects of modern life. "Dance of Death" (1948) - an exposure of the fascist state, its criminal leaders, a rare criticism of the compromise position in relation to Nazism. This novel is included in the golden fund of German and world anti-fascist literature.
