THE TALE OF WINGED FRIENDS is not the first book by the famous Chuvash writer Vladimir Saday. It is dedicated to the combat operations of Soviet aviation during the offensive of our troops near Stalingrad and on the Kursk Bulge. At the center of the story is the fate of two friends and peers, young fighter pilots Aleksandrov and Baraboshkin. The heroes of the book go through a difficult path of formation and maturity. The author shows them both in severe battles and in periods of calm, in the service and in their personal lives.
The writer depicts the front-line activities of aviators truthfully, warmly and lyrically; he himself was an active participant in the last war.
