In the Russian folk calendar, almost the entire year was scheduled according to Orthodox holidays or according to the names of the saints whose memory was celebrated on these days. At the same time, some names were distorted in relation to the names accepted by the people. For example, the day of memory of St. Melania the Roman was simply called Melania (January 13), the day of memory of Theodosius the Great (January 24) - Theodosius the Vesnyak, etc. To make our calendar easier to use, all dates in it will be given in the new style. The book is called The Seasons. And this, as you know, winter, spring, summer and autumn. Therefore, in order not to have to separate months from one another and not to break the agricultural cycle, the authors decided to start the calendar from the first winter month - December. The edition is illustrated.
