The publication is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Russia's victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. In it, the reader will find images of all 336 portraits executed for the Military Gallery in the 1820s. J. Doe and his assistants, and in the 1830s - F. Kruger and P. P. Kraft. Each portrait is accompanied by an annotation, including a brief biography of the person depicted, a description of uniforms and insignia, the time of creation, in some cases information about repetitions and engravings, possible samples used in painting some of the portraits. The book includes an introductory article about the history of the gallery's creation.
