Braudel Fernand. Material civilization, economy and capitalism (XV-XVIII centuries). Complete set of three volumes. Per. from French. M. Progress, 1986-1992 Hardcover, dust jackets included, but in average condition. Enlarged format. The weight of the books is 3.4 kg.
"Material Civilization, Economics and Capitalism (XV - XVIII centuries)" is a fundamental three-volume work written by Fernand Braudel, one of the greatest masters of historical research. This work represents the highest achievement of the French historical school "Annals" in the desire of scientists of this historiographic direction to carry out a historical synthesis of all aspects of society. The object of study of "Material Civilization" is economic history on a global scale from the 15th to the 18th centuries.
Volume 1, The Structures of Everyday: The Possible and the Impossible, explores "historical calms," the unhurried, day-to-day, daily activities of people to get their daily bread.
The second volume, The Games of Exchange, explores the vast world of economic communications and trade.
In the third volume of his work, Fernand Braudel sets out world economic history, "organizing" it in time and space. It appears as an alternation of the domination of several world-economy, united not only by a single center, but also by common temporal rhythms. Considering the causes of the rise and fall of these worlds, the problems of the formation of national markets and the regional features of the industrial revolution, the author verifies his main hypotheses outlined in previous volumes in chronological order.
Fernand Braudel is a member of the French Academy, a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences, a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
The condition of the books is excellent. Volume 3 has a slight tear on the edge of the binding (last photo).
