The collection of articles “Evil Barking Swearing...” is devoted to the study of a topic that in the last decade has increasingly interested socio- and ethnolinguists around the world. Invective and, above all, obscene (obscene, taboo) vocabulary, popular in any culture, has finally attracted the attention of researchers trying to understand the features of words, which, on the one hand, should be known to absolutely every native speaker, and on the other, to a whole range of cases be prohibited for use. It is quite obvious that when developing this topic, it is inevitable to turn to the problems of consciousness and subconsciousness, prohibitions and taboos, euphemisms and dysphemisms, jargons and colloquialisms. Authors of articles from Russia and a number of other countries are trying to provide answers to at least some of these questions. The collection is intended for specialists in the field of philology, ethno- and sociolinguistics. However, the articles in the collection are written in a manner that makes them readable by a general reader interested in the problems of national linguistic and cultural development.
