Peter Konstantinovich Ivanov (1876-1956) - Russian religious writer, a prominent figure in the Russian emigration. Uncle Alexander Petrovich was an artillery lieutenant and fought as a volunteer on the side of the Serbs and Bulgarians in 1876-1878, then for 30 years (1880-1910) he worked as a copyist for L. Tolstoy. In 1901 he graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of Moscow University. In 1903 he published the book “Students in Moscow”, in 1904 - “To the Enemies of Leonid Andreev”. Before the Revolution, he led a secular lifestyle, a passionate theatergoer and newspaper employee. Having married the daughter of industrialist Morozov, he took a large dowry for his wife. He was distinguished by his extensive charity work.

Peter Konstantinovich Ivanov wrote the book based on personal experience and professional observations: he studied at the Faculty of Law of Moscow University and worked as a journalist. Pyotr Konstantinovich’s essays are considered “the first experience of a comprehensive analysis of the social phenomenon of students at the turn of the 19th—20th centuries. as such." The author describes in detail the everyday life of Moscow students - tells where the students lived, what they ate, how they spent their leisure time and what they did on the side. The book immerses you in the atmosphere of its time and is a fascinating historical source.

(Dietmar Gerhard Stüdemann)
