Two years ago, the State Literary Museum began developing a plan and preparing materials for the publication of the “Chronicles” of our Museum. The long, painstaking, persistent and often truly enthusiastic work of the team of our Museum and a large number of literary specialists has produced brilliant results that have exceeded all our expectations. We are pleased now, in the middle of 1936, to offer to the attention of readers the first volume of the “Chronicles” of the State Literary Museum - dedicated to the great Pushkin. We are doubly happy that we are starting this new edition of ours, which could only have been created under Soviet conditions, with the publication of new, in the vast majority of cases never before published, materials relating to the life, activity, creativity and literary work of the greatest poet of our homeland, so highly revered by the broadest masses of our diverse country.
