Book of memoirs of the personal secretary L.N. Tolstoy about his meetings and communication with Russian artists of the early twentieth century - P.P. Trubetskoy, L.O. Pasternak, I.S. Ostroukhov, M.V. Nesterov, I.E. Grabar, N.S. Goncharova, Korovin, Nilus and others. Seventeen *meetings* of N.K. Roerich in letters from India. `My meetings with artists belong to three periods: firstly, my life in Yasnaya Polyana as Leo Tolstoy's personal secretary (1910), secondly, work as director of the Leo Tolstoy Museum in Moscow ( 1916-1923) and, thirdly, work as director of the Russian Cultural and Historical Museum in Prague-Zbraslav, including a trip to Paris for paintings (1934-1941). The best examples of painting and sculpture, collected by me abroad, were transported to the USSR in 1948 and distributed among Moscow museums. I must say that I valued the works of our outstanding artists as much as I did personal meetings with masters of art. Valentin Fedorovich Bulgakov - Follower and last secretary of Leo Tolstoy. Head of a number of literary museums. An active Christian anarchist-Tolstoyan and anti-militarist, he survived both the royal dungeons and the German concentration camp. At the end of his life, he headed the Yasnaya Polyana Museum for about 20 years. Book on coated paper, full-page illustrations, drawings, portraits.
